Crowd Source Stock Photo Albums
I just received an email inviting me to check out crowd-sourcing software for vacation trips in which other photographers and hobbyists can submit photos of things I may have missed. Uh – NO! While the product has great business applications such as engaging potential customers who think their photos are great, then get baited and switched to buy things, it is just another pinterest, facebook, instagram or whatever. Of course we know down the road in a few years people will discover that these products’ “terms of service” (TOS) allowed those companies to take whatever you posted and do whatever they want with it. Rarely are the images worth much, but the control is absolutely gone and value is lost forever. Of course I will check out the product to see what its TOS are. I suspect that I will be giving away my intellectual rights by using it and if so, it’s a NO-GO!
